In-Surgery and At-Home Whitening/Bleaching
Tooth whitening is an easy, safe, conservative, and cost-effective way to whiten your teeth. Teeth become discoloured and stained from the natural ageing process and lifestyle factors such as drinking coffee, tea, red wine, soft drinks and smoking.
We recommend both at-home or a combination of in-surgery and at-home bleaching.
At-home whitening kits include specific custom-made bleaching trays (constructed from impressions of your teeth) and a dental-grade whitening gel kit. You will then need to load the trays at home with bleach and wear the trays as instructed. We use Pola whitening products in a range of concentrations that are suitable for use either during the day or night. Most people prefer day time wear as it can be as quick as 15-20 minutes per application. The process generally happens over the course of two weeks. We will recommend which process best suits your teeth. Each person’s teeth will whiten by varying degrees depending on a range of factors that we will discuss.
In-surgery teeth whitening takes approximately 1.5 hours and gives more rapid results. We will use a Pola gel with more powerful bleaching agents and further activate the gel with a low intensity light. Your gums and lips are protected by special retractors and protective resin, and the gel applied to your teeth and activated by the light for 15-minute intervals three to four times.
